A Gift

Nearly two years ago I had the opportunity to meet someone who has become a dear and special friend to me. Her name is Angela and she and I just happened to be set up at the same quilt show for two days. She is a quilter, knitter, and much, much more. She makes and sells handmade stitcheries of all types...Annie dolls, mini-quilts, pincushions, and a long list of goodies; she also paints beautifully and has custom painted boxes plus so many other things. She likes primitives. I have many of her pieces that I've collected since we met. Recently she sent me a gift for no special occasion. She made this and sent it to me because we are friends. I cherish it because it was made by her. We both live in Southern Indiana and we both have blogs; in fact, we were reading each others' blogs before we met up in person and we recognized each other from them. What an interesting and small world we live in. With the aid of the Internet, we have opportunities to meet people and bond with them and make lifelong friendships that we never would have otherwise. You can visit her blog HERE. If you would like to see and/or buy some of her crafts, click on the Etsy links on her blog.

Thank you, Angela, for this lovely gift. I treasure it.

The vintage wood ironing board
I've been cleaning and organizing my sewing room. It's a small room and I have many things in it, too many, but I won't give up anything. By moving a few things around, I was able to make the space flow a bit better. I decided to give away my modern ironing board that is too large and heavy and am going to do my ironing on the smaller wooden one that I got recently. Unless I can find a small size cover to buy for it, I'm going to use this batting and muslin to cover it. The smaller size works well for me and I enjoy having it set up in the sewing room.

Yesterday I had my annual eye exam. It went well, no changes in prescription, so I don't need new glasses. However, while in Kentucky last week I broke my clip-on sunglasses so I ordered a pair of prescription lens for some older frames I already have; they will darken them to the max and add the coating that helps prevent scratches. We have another beautifully sunny day with some breeze and low humidity, at least for now. I'm going out this morning to do a few errands. It looks like a great day for that. I was going to do them yesterday after the eye exam but after having my eyes dilated I couldn't take the sunlight so I came home and stayed indoors.
~~~
Until next time, have a nice day. Thanks for your visit.
I cherish your friendship even if you are a silly girl doing such a writeup about me. Glad we did that yucky show that is for sure. :o)))
What a special friendship. Kind of reminds me of a good friend that I met through blogging. I haven't had the privilage to meet her in person yet. We did talk on the phone a while one afternoon and we email quite a bit. I absolutely adore her. I look forward to every posts she writes. I bet you might know her! She is so very nice and such an inspiration to me. She is actually the reason I started a blog! Thank you for being my good friend Connie! You mean the world to me.
You are lucky to have such a lovely friend. I am staying inside to avoid the cold! Opposite to your heat.
What a sweet friend Connie. I can't envision how you fold that pin keeper to make it come out like that but I sure love it. I have a homemade ironing area and I use batting and muslin to cover it. I just pin mine underneath to make it tight and when it needs to be laundered I unpin it, stick it in the wash and put a new one on while I wait. I always have two pieces cut to size so when one is in the wash I use the other. blessings, marlene
